mental health: finding your voice

  • Virtual PresentationKeynote PresentationWorkshop SessionHalf Day TrainingFull Day Training
  • How to stop suffering in silence and create an attitude of resilience? When it comes to mental health, there are countless barriers that prevent individuals from seeking help. This includes everything from the fear of judgement, or failure to being perceived as lesser than others or weak. Long periods of sufferring of mental health and mental illness can lead to isolation, addictions and in the worst cases suicide.

Because of these barriers, people often believe that silence is the safer option. This, in turn, causes individuals to sacrifice their happiness, health, and future success. Silence has never been the answer. Understanding the power of your voice is the first step in finding true freedom. The freedom to self-express and the freedom to be. Having experienced these challenges first-hand, Allan shares his captivating story of resilience and hope. Through his message, your audience will learn how to share their own story, step into their vulnerability, and connect to themselves and others in a more authentic way. By finding their own voice, they will be able to inspire others to find theirs.

This motivaitonal presentation helps identify barriers that prevent individuals form seeking help. Allan helps bring new light on how to create safe spaces and a psychologically safe working environment where leadership and teams are able to create strategies to support someone who appears to be in distress. Allan also brings new light on reducing the stigmas and stereotypes associated with mental health. Get ready to learn how to create a compassionate environment where individuals are seen, heard and supported to prevent the silence of mental health or mental illness from a prevenative approach.

mental health: it's time to talk

Testimonials

I have had the privilege of attending several seminars on Mental Health in the Workplace and found Allan’s to be, by far, the most personal, insightful, educational and informative. Allan is an engaging speaker whose passionate delivery captivates the audience and allows us to share in the emotions and experiences of individuals living with mental illness. He brought humor to an otherwise heavy topic without compromising the seriousness of the message. I left Allan’s seminar a more informed and compassionate person.

- Heather Ricketts, National Manager of Employee and Labour Relations, Sleep Country Canada

I have heard more than 100 presentations on similar topics but Allan’s approach is refreshing because it is so holistic and positive. He has a gift in reaching far beyond the facts and statistics. He talks to MY experience and MY desire to live fuller with more freedom. When Allan speaks he has a compassion for people and an innate belief that the human spirit can overcome personal challenges. He is the speaker that supervisors and employee groups need to hear when planning topics around Addictions, EFAP, and Wellness.

- Arlene Jorgenson, CEO, SK WellPoint Health Ltd.

Allan has spoken at the Saskatchewan Regional National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) twice with great success. He has also facilitated a two-day training course for basic counselling skills. Allan’s direct experience with students, as an educator at SIIT, makes him uniquely qualified to deliver information in an efficient and relatable manner that is uncommon with many facilitators. His commitment to quality show in his written material, including his books, “Stepping out from the Shadows”, and “Goodbye Stress. Hello Life!”, and in his oral presentations. Working with Allan is always smooth, and his professionalism makes him easy to hire again and again. We highly...

- Amy Wall, Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, Workforce Development

Allan is an inspiration. He has a thoroughly positive outlook for someone who has faced such adversities. His presentation is upbeat and full of energy. He touches on sensitive subjects, but does so with humor, and lots of compassion and understanding.

- Gerard Rieger, Sr. H&S Advisor, Cenovus Energy

Allan and I have shared stages, and I found him to be powerful and relatable. I realized each time I wasn’t actually listening to him as a fellow speaker or advocate, but as a sufferer of an illness that leaves me sometimes feeling alone and isolated. Allan made me feel less of each. I felt empowered by his words, as I now feel empowered by his book.
