Paul Verhesen is the President & CEO of Clark Builders which has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies since 2007 and since 2008 as one of Canada’s Top Employers. He has been successful in effectively aligning the needs of diverse teams that has resulted in bigger profits, synergized teams and staff that are committed to their work and the business. His passions include: construction, innovation, and relationships. Paul Verhesen holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, majoring in Construction, from the University of Alberta and maintains his Professional Engineering Certification with the APEGGA.
Verhesen’s strategic vision for the company has fostered an environment of continuous improvement, sustainable growth, and collaboration with a focus on leveraging technical innovation in the areas of operational process improvement (Lean Construction), self-performed work, and Building Information Modelling (BIM). In 2011, Paul Verhesen led Clark Builders seamlessly through the transition of ownership to see Turner Construction become a major partner in a company that remains 49% employee-owned with full operational control. The future looks bright for Clark Builders as it plans to expand its reach both geographically and in the markets that it serves.
With a vested interest in contributing to the ongoing development of the construction industry. In 2018, Paul Verhesen was the recipient of the Edmonton Construction Association Claude Alston Award. Recipients are recognized with ECA’s “Stanley Cup” for their extraordinary achievements and contributions to the Edmonton construction community and the City. Paul is a past Chair of Alberta Construction Association, Go Productivity and Canadian Construction Innovations, as well as a past Director of the Canadian Construction Association. In addition, an avid sports fan and dedicated volunteer, Mr. Verhesen contributes his time, energy and expertise to a number of professional and community organizations.
Paul's presentations is based on his beliefs on how the success of any leader is to understand that people are the most valued resource of any organization. Paul conveys his key elements for leaders to drive an organization to achieve their goals. He also gives practical solutions for leaders on how to build great teams and enable them to create win/win situations through mutual respect, understanding and commitment within the workplace.
