DOMANIQUE GRANT BIOGRAPHY

Domanique’s childhood consisted of navigating the socio-political systems of affordable housing, education, and statistics, that tried to define her narrative as a young black girl in Canada. Domanique was told at the age of six that she had a learning disability and would never make it through the education system.

Dominique Grant was named one of Buzzfeed’s top 20 artists to watch. Her unconventional upbringing, having lived in Canada, Uganda, and Argentina before the age of 22, translated into an instant superpower: connection. Domanique’s music is healing, empowering, and genre-bending, blending feel-good pop, moody R&B, and soul.

Her body-positive single ‘Airbrush’ from her double EP Queen/Dom received radio rotation on Top 40 AC radio stations, including Kiss Radio. Collaborations with Grammy Award-winning producer Jarrel ‘The’ Young and a viral pandemic song further showcase her talent. In 2023, she was named a Women in Music Canada Honoree and WIC Amazon Artist of the Year.

Domanique Grant was named one of WXN Canada’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Women” for 2023 and was named “One of Toronto’s Most Inspiring Women of 2023 in the arts” by Post Media. Domanique Grant was added to the Women in Music Canada “Honour Roll”, where she was named “an artist to watch” by Spotify.

Raised by a single parent, in a downtown Toronto housing cooperative, Domanique Grant also had to navigate the realities of growing up, during one of the city’s highest periods of gun violence, impacting racialized youth.

Gifted with determination, imagination, a passion for storytelling, and a mother that is a teacher, Domanique Grant learned how to use tenacity, visualization, music, and theatre, to reshape her reality and create new narratives.

She graduated high school and university with honors, where she transferred her passions in community development, wellness, and the arts into an honors double major in International Development and Theatre from York University.

After being invited to work in Uganda, Dominique Grant would receive her first Humanitarian award at the age of 21, for developing arts-based education and wellness programming, that would help create access for children from underserved communities across Uganda, who did not have access to education.

Simultaneously, Domanique Grant pursued her dream of becoming a singer/ songwriter, where she channeled her adversities into award-winning music and songwriting that she performed for the communities that she worked in.

Today her award-winning music has been used to elevate some of the largest global movements of our time. In 2020 her single Till We See The Sun was named “the anthem of our time” by CTV national after, a clip of Domanique performing in the streets of Toronto during the lockdown, went viral, bringing together frontline workers from over 20 countries.

In 2020 Domanique founded Grant Creativity Inc. an award-winning social enterprise that uses entertainment and wellness programming to increase access for equity-seeking communities. Her topics that include education, innovation and sustainability, mental health, women’s empowerment, affordable housing and diversity and inclusion.

Domanique has opened for Les Brown, one of the Top 5 American speakers in the world and has captivated audiences on stages including for TedxYouth, The United Nations and World Aids Day. In 2023, she shared the stage with keynote speakers; Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Melanie Fiona, Global Head of Education and Lifestyle Vanessa Craft, and more.

How To Build A Vision That No One Else Can See.

  • Virtual PresentationKeynote PresentationWorkshop SessionHalf Day TrainingFull Day Training
  • As early as she can remember Domanique had a vision for herself that no one understood. Yet she’s leveraged this vision as a woman in business to shatter glass ceilings and transform the expectations for young women in entertainment, while still in her 30’s by combining her interests in entertainment, entrepreneurship, and global development.

Today, Domanique is an award-winning singer/ songwriter and the CEO of an award-winning social enterprise that uses entertainment and wellness to increase access for global communities. She became the president of two cooperative housing organizations while still in her 20s and represented over 45,000 members, prior to attaining her first humanitarian during university.

So what does an artist, international development grad, and award-winning entrepreneur have to teach you about women’s empowerment and being a woman in business? Well for starters, we can’t wait for anyone to empower us, we need to invest in the vision that no one else understands and start with that.

In this inspiring presentation, Domanique discusses lessons in adversity, leadership, and intersectionality, that are key to informing an equitable and sustainable vision for gender-diverse leadership and women in business.

How Mindfulness, Visualization, and Neurological Reprogramming Saved My Life.
