Cheryl Pounder is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and six-time world champion with Canada’s National Women’s Hockey Team. A celebrated athlete and leader, Cheryl captained Wilfrid Laurier University’s hockey team and was inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame. She has transitioned her success from the ice to the stage, becoming an in-demand speaker for clients such as Tim Hortons, CIBC, TD Bank, and the City of Toronto. Cheryl Pounder is a celebrated Canadian athlete who has seamlessly transitioned from the ice rink to the keynote stage, inspiring audiences with her remarkable journey and powerful messages. Cheryl Pounder’s career is defined by excellence, dedication, and the ability to motivate others through both her athletic accomplishments and her dynamic presence as a speaker.

Cheryl Pounder’s achievements in sport are nothing short of extraordinary. She began her run of success in the early 1990s when she helped her team win the Under-18 Canadian National Championship. Over the course of her illustrious career with the Canadian National Women’s Hockey Team, Cheryl Pounder captured six IIHF World Championship titles and earned two Olympic Gold medals at the 2002 and 2006 Winter Games.

As a keynote speaker, Cheryl Pounder brings the same energy, passion, and commitment that she demonstrated on the ice. Cheryl Pounder’s parents also encouraged her to believe in herself, persevere through adversity, and commit to finishing what she started.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Cheryl Pounder was raised in Mississauga, Ontario. She attended St. Martin Secondary School and later captained the ice hockey team at Wilfrid Laurier University. Cheryl Pounder graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in kinesiology and physical education and was inducted into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
