Liz Gleadle

Vancouver, British Columbia
3x Olympian, High Performance Habits Specialist and Motivational Speaker
Liz Gleadle inspired and surprised many in qualifying for the London 2012 Olympic Games: she broke the Canadian Record in order to qualify after being hit in the leg by a 16-pound men's hammer. Not only was she the first Canadian woman to qualify for an Olympics in javelin since 1968, but is the only one to make an Olympic Final. Liz is known for her transformative high-performance habits and engaging storyteller.

Liz Gleadle has represented Canada at three Olympic Games (London, Rio, & Tokyo), won ten Canadian Championships, holds the National Record at 64.83m (212.7 ft) and competed professionally for the last decade. Although Liz was blessed with strength and height (183cm / 6’1), she was in no way “naturally” athletic or coordinated: as a javelin thrower, this made Liz an outlier. Javelin is an explosive combination of precise movement, steps, applied force, torque, and extension – it’s frequently dominated by some of the most athletic people in track.

Liz Gleadle switched to a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia to foster her athletic career, and she became infatuated with anything that supported high performance.

In 2011, the potential to make her first Olympic Team was on the horizon. Determined to work with her strengths, she rigorously adhered to habits and routines that enhanced her ability to focus, recover and train optimally. Not only did she make the team but smashed the Canadian Record by over 3 meters, and became the first Canadian to make the Olympic Finals in her event!

This was only the beginning. Over the last decade, Liz Gleadle has expanded her knowledge of nutrition, sleep, active recovery, mental training, meditation, and yoga. She curates routines to optimize physiological and psychological states, as well as strategies to boost adherence and consistency.

Liz Gleadle shares her favourite, most effective strategies through two online events. In Win the Morning, she teaches the science and strategies of her 5-step, science-backed, minimum effective dose morning routine. The Art of Recovery teaches the science and strategies to avoid burnout with active recovery, and how to reframe them as an integral part of optimal performance.

Liz Gleadle is currently training for the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Although Vancouver is home, she travels frequently for training camps in California, Trinidad and Tobago, and Europe.

the art of recovery

  • Virtual PresentationKeynote PresentationWorkshop SessionHalf Day TrainingFull Day Training
  • In this online experience, Liz teaches and inspires how to strategically integrate rest for better performance and wellbeing. Many go-getters live by the mantra “I’ll never be outworked!”, and although this can be a great mantra for getting started, it often leads to injuries or illness, burnout, and loss of excitement for what we do. After a back injury sidelined Liz for a year, she started to see rest and recovery as integral to producing high-quality work.

During this event, we go through science-based recovery strategies, including:

    • How to get a more effective night’s sleep (and how to get out of that awful habit of watching tv to fall asleep)
    • Breakfast dos and don’ts
    • How to prevent and clear mid-day brain fog
    • How to use nature to reset your stress levels and boost your immune system

I would highly recommend hiring Liz! The week before Liz left for the Tokyo Olympics, she made time to meet with me and my sales team for our fiscal year kick-off. Not only was her message inspiring around performance building habits, but she really tailored the message in a way that resonated with my Sales team. It was fun, interactive, motivating, and engaging. My team still talks about it almost a year later!
