Stephanie Dick is an incredibly engaging speaker. In her youth, she was one of Canada’s best debaters, placing first in both bilingual and French national tournaments, and having been selected as one of five members of Team Canada in 2002 who competed at the World School’s Debating Championships in Singapore, as well as international tournaments in the UK. Building on her early passion for public speaking, Stephanie Dick now lectures regularly in the university context and offers public talks for a wide array of audiences. She has been invited to speak at big tech firms including Google and Microsoft Research and is regularly invited to participate in policy-oriented events with legislators and representatives of government in the UK, the US, and Canada. Stephanie Dick continues to forge these connections in her capacity as an editor at the Harvard Data Science Review, where Stephanie oversees the publication of a column that frames humanistic insights for data scientists.
In 2021, Stephanie Dick (who was born and raised in Calgary) decided that after thirteen years in the “ivy league”, she wanted to return home to Western Canada to be closer to her family. Stephanie is currently a professor at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and an active researcher in the Digital Democracies Institute that explores how AI is impacting our society. Stephanie Dick is eager to share her expertise on AI, its place in the future of work and management, and its impacts on the human experience here at home in Canada, or wherever there is a shared interest in this emerging space.
