BOBBIE RACETTE BIOGRAPHY

Bobbie Racette is the Founder and President of one of North America’s fastest-growing remote talent platforms, a purpose-driven platform transforming how organizations access and engage remote talent.

As a proud Métis-Cree and 2SLGBTQIA+ entrepreneur, Bobbie Racette has built one of North America’s most successful Indigenous and queer-led technology companies. Virtual Gurus connects skilled virtual professionals with businesses seeking flexible and inclusive workforce solutions.

Under Bobbie Racette’s leadership, the company has generated over $40 million in revenue and created thousands of jobs for underrepresented professionals. She made history as the first Indigenous woman in Canada to close a Series A funding round, marking a milestone for diversity in technology and venture capital.

Her work exemplifies the power of innovation combined with inclusion, providing access to opportunity for those historically overlooked in the workforce. Bobbie Racette’s entrepreneurial journey began after being laid off during Alberta’s oil-and-gas downturn in 2016. Instead of viewing rejection as a setback, she transformed it into motivation to build a business rooted in purpose, resilience, and representation.

Through her platform, she has advanced the future of work by aligning technological progress with social impact. Bobbie Racette’s leadership extends beyond her company. She serves as Chair of QueerTech and the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation, advancing equity across sectors. She also sits on the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation board, supporting initiatives that foster digital inclusion and community growth.

Her contributions have earned recognition from the University of Victoria, where she was named Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year. Bobbie Racette has also been honoured by EY, Pow Wow Pitch, and the Indigenous Entrepreneur Awards for her business leadership and advocacy. Her mantra, “No is not an option,” reflects the determination that defines her approach to business and life.

Bobbie Racette continues to inspire new generations of leaders to build organizations that prioritize inclusion, sustainability, and innovation. Her story demonstrates that success and social progress can coexist within the evolving landscape of work.
