About Lindsey Mazza

Lindsey Mazza is a lawyer, inclusive leadership expert, disability advocate and mentor. Born with Holt-Oram Syndrome, a physical disability, Lindsey spent her life pushing past limitations, both real and imposed, all while hiding her visible difference. As a founding partner of a multi-city law firm, with over a decade of experience, she defied expectations in an industry resistant to change and where accessibility is overlooked. It wasn’t until the loss of her father, a Superior Court Judge and advocate for equality, that Lindsey learned to embrace her differences as a strength and shifted her career. She now uses her voice and inclusive leadership skills to empower others through self-advocacy and inclusion. Lindsey is the host of Hiding in Plain Sight, a podcast and a TV Segment on YourTv Niagara’s The Source, both providing a platform for important stories and messages to be shared.

LINDSEY MAZZA BIOGRAPHY

Lindsey Mazza is a dynamic speaker, inclusive leadership expert, disability advocate, and mentor who blends her personal journey with professional expertise to inspire change. Her story is one of resilience, authenticity, and transformation—demonstrating how embracing one’s differences can become a powerful force for purpose and progress.

Lindsey Mazza was born with Holt-Oram syndrome, a physical disability affecting her limbs Despite the physical challenges and societal perceptions, Lindsey Mazza spent her childhood and adolescence minimizing her differences—concealing her disability, believing that it was safer to hide and that talking about it would only lead to discrimination or rejection. For years, she built a mental and emotional armor that shielded her from external judgments but also from authenticity.

From a young age, Lindsey understood that in order to succeed, she would need to adapt. She learned to develop resilience, work harder than most, and rely on her problem-solving skills. She learned to advocate for herself when access or accommodations were denied, and to push past societal barriers that often marginalized people with disabilities. Her unwavering dedication led her into a successful legal career, where she leveraged her skills, determination, and advocacy to build a multi-city law firm from the ground up.

During her decade-long career in law, Lindsey Mazza proved that leadership and inclusivity go hand in hand. She was at the forefront of creating workplaces where diversity is celebrated, and she naturally became an influencing voice for inclusion, even in a sector that historically was not known for accessibility. She thrived in a demanding, high-stakes environment, embodying the true spirit of resilience and leadership.

However, her journey took a profound turn in October 2023, when Lindsey’s world changed again—this time dramatically. She lost her father, a fellow lawyer, judge, and lifelong disability advocate. Her father shared her disability and was a guiding force in her life. To Lindsey, losing him was like losing her greatest teammate and role model. It was a moment of grief, reflection, and awakening.

In that grief, Lindsey Mazza found clarity. She realized she couldn’t stay silent any longer. Her father’s legacy and her own experiences compelled her to step into her purpose—helping others understand that differences are not barriers but assets. She became committed to breaking down societal and organizational barriers that have kept millions of people with disabilities invisible and unheard.

Her experiences led her to become an outspoken advocate for authentic inclusion. She now passionately speaks about the importance of systemic change—moving beyond superficial diversity initiatives to create equitable environments where everyone has access, opportunity, and a true seat at the table. She advocates for inclusive leadership as a strategic imperative—because organizations that truly value diversity outperform their competitors and create more innovative, resilient cultures.

Lindsey Mazza emphasizes that most DEI efforts today focus on the “D”—diversity—checking boxes and creating representation, but neglect the “I”—inclusion. This, she explains, is where real change begins—it’s about cultivating environments where all people, regardless of visible or invisible differences, feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute. This requires systemic shifts, thoughtful policies, and leadership that understands the nuanced challenges faced by marginalized groups.

Her message is clear: Society is currently failing millions of people with disabilities—8 million in Canada alone, according to the 2022 Census—who are often invisible, excluded from opportunities, and kept on the sidelines of progress. Whether visible, invisible, or systemic, these differences matter, and the world needs more advocates like Lindsey to push for change.

Lindsey Mazza’s approach combines lived experience with practical expertise. She guides organizations on how to shift their mindset and policies—helping leaders understand that inclusion is not an add-on but a core part of organizational success. She teaches that authentic inclusion requires intentionality—listening, learning, and leading with empathy and awareness.

Through her speaking engagements, consulting work, and mentorship, Lindsey empowers individuals and organizations to reframe how they view difference—seeing it not as a challenge but as a source of strength. She encourages companies to involve diverse voices in decision-making processes, especially those of people with lived experiences of disability. Her work aims to create a ripple effect—changing organizational cultures from within and inspiring broader societal shifts.

Lindsey Mazza is passionate about mentoring others to live authentically. She believes that every individual, regardless of their visible or invisible differences, carries shame, doubt, or fear—often because they’ve been told to hide or shrink. Her mission is to help people shed that shame, embrace their true selves, and find their purpose.

Lindsey is the host of Hiding in Plain Sight, a podcast and a TV Segment on YourTv Niagara’s The Source, both providing a platform for important stories and messages to be shared.
