Mark Black (CSP) Break Through adversity to thrive through change. Known as a heartful motivational speaker, Mark Black helps clients to stop making excuses and focus on getting results and thrive through challenging times.
Mark Black was born with a life-threatening heart defect and underwent two open-heart surgeries before age one. Mark Black battled his condition and its limitations for twenty-two years successfully, but at 23 yrs old, Mark Black suddenly faced the most significant life challenge. His doctor informed him that his heart was failing badly and that without a rare and dangerous heart and double-lung transplant, Mark Black would not likely see his 25th birthday.
In October 2001, Mark Black moved thousands of kilometers from home and was on the transplant waiting list. After just four months on the list, his condition worsened, and Mark Black was placed in the hospital where Mark Black lived, waiting for a miracle, for six months. Finally, by the grace of God, on September 7th, 2002, after almost a year on the list, Mark Black received a second chance at life as a heart and double-lung transplant recipient. Mark Black continues to take medication to prevent the rejection of the organs. The average lifespan of someone with his transplant is 5-10 years.
It has been 20 years since his transplant. Since receiving his second chance at life, Mark Black has now impacted the lives of more than 100,000 in more than 350 presentations across North America with his unique story and powerful life lessons that help his audience members live life with passion and purpose. Mark Black is a time marathon runner and author best-selling author. Mark Black is the only man in history to run a marathon with someone else’s heart and lungs.
