From humble beginnings to a championship quarterback who played professional football for 20 years, Anthony Calvillo has a story to tell that will inspire and motivate your team. Anthony Calvillo is an experienced keynote speaker who can relate to everyone with his humility and down-to-earth nature while he shares the lessons he has learned from football and in life. He is a champion, coach, teammate, husband, father, cancer-survivor and gentleman and each of those roles helps him connect to people on different levels.

Anthony Calvillo is a Canadian Football League icon with the Montreal Allouettes. He is the all-time professional football passing yards leader and first in all-time CFL passing yards. In his career, he has passed for over 70,000 yards and is one of four professional quarterbacks to have completed over 400 touchdown passes. He won three Grey Cup championships in 2002, 2009, and 2010, being named the Grey Cup Most Valuable Player in 2002. He has won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player Award three times, in 2003, 2008, and 2009.

Anthony started his Canadian Football League career in 1994 with the US expansion Las Vegas Posse. After the Posse folded a year later, Calvillo was selected first overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the dispersal draft. While in Hamilton, Calvillo served as a backup quarterback to players such as Steve Taylor and Matt Dunigan.  In 1998, Calvillo signed as a free agent with the Montreal Alouettes, where over 16 seasons he became one of the most outstanding CFL quarterbacks in history.

Anthony Calvillo is a motivational speaker who shares his story to audiences across Canada. Anthony’s life is a testament to a life of facing adversity, raising the bar and making changes along the way to succeed in life, both personally and professionally. The numbers, statistics and accomplishments speak for themselves. But, he is more than just the numbers; he is hard-working and driven, yet down-to-earth, and humble – a true leader.

Anthony has always placed great importance into giving back to the community. His own life was changed by people stepping up and giving their time, their energy and their passion to make a difference and to better their communities. Giving back continues to be an important part of his mission in life.

This presentation discusses his personal experiences and what factors played a role in him becoming a successful leader on and off the field. He shares how having the right attitude, work ethic and priorities will set the tone for successful leadership. It takes drive, humility, and confidence, and this keynote serves as a reminder that everyone has what it takes to become an inspiring leader in their business and personal lives.

This presentation is about how Anthony was able to maintain a high bar on my performance, which allowed him to play professional football for 20 years. The status quo is never enough to sustain success over the years and he continued to challenge and push towards a standard he created for himself. This keynote discusses how with the right mindset, attitude and the open-mindedness to adjust to constantly changing philosophies and structures, excellence is within reach.

Teamwork is an important foundation of sports at any level, as it is in life. In this keynote, he discusses how successful communication, positive attitudes and how having each other’s backs drives success. He share's his experience of seeing the extreme difference between having positive, high-functioning teamwork and the negative effects of having poor teamwork. He discusses the role that trust, loyalty and mentorship had on his personal success and how these things will form a part of every successful team.

In this keynote, he shares about all of the challenges he faced throughout his life, starting with a turbulent childhood in La Puente, California. He also discusses different stages of mindset development as a top-level athlete while going through personal challenges. He discusses how he handled tough situations on and off the field, overcoming his wife’s and his own cancer battles, and breaking the cycle of domestic violence that he grew up with. He managed to beat the odds over and over, and he inspires people to do the same in their own lives.
