Paul Larche Biography
Paul Larche is the author of The Divided Brain, winner of the 2026 CANREADS Business, Finance and Marketing Award. BookLife by Publishers Weekly recognized the book with a 10 out of 10 score, Editor Pick status, and BookLife Prize semifinalist standing. He now speaks to leaders, marketers, and organizations about why smart people make irrational decisions. The work is built from decades of watching people choose, persuade, and explain those choices after the fact.
Paul Larche began in radio, moved into sales and station management, and later founded an independent media company. Starting with one radio station, he built a group of five stations, a digital division, and a branding agency. The company earned more than 25 industry awards before successful exits involving Rogers, Bell Media, and Treefrog. That operating experience, not classroom theory, is the foundation of his speaking.
Paul Larche saw a pattern that facts alone could not explain. Campaigns with better data, better prices, and better arguments still lost. People responded first to emotion, familiarity, identity, and instinct, then used logic to justify the choice. He turned that observation into the practical framework behind The Divided Brain. Audiences leave with language they can use in leadership, sales, marketing, and everyday judgment.
His flagship presentation is Why Smart People Make Irrational Decisions: Decoding the Mind Operating System. Paul Larche uses business stories, audience interaction, and accessible behavioural science to show why confidence can outrun evidence and why communication fails even when the logic is sound. The Old Brain and New Brain model is used as a practical metaphor, not a medical or anatomical claim. The aim is clearer thinking in an increasingly AI shaped world.
Organizers describe Paul Larche as conversational, engaging, and unusually effective at making complex ideas usable. He has delivered dozens of business, leadership, and community presentations. Most earlier events were not professionally recorded, so he now films every engagement. Recent live footage includes the Canadian Club of London in May 2026.
Beyond business, Paul Larche has held substantial board and community roles. He has served as Board Chair of the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation, the Georgian Angel Network, and the Numeris Radio Board, Chair of the Georgian College Board of Governors, and a board member of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. He is an angel investor in 10 startups and a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International. Through community campaigns and volunteer leadership, he helped raise millions of dollars for hospitals and local causes.
Paul Larche was inducted into the Ontario Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2019. He lives in Barrie, Ontario, and continues to write, speak, and work with leaders who want better judgment under pressure. The through line is consistent. Understand what the mind does first, and people become harder to fool, including themselves.
