BOB WILKIE BIOGRAPHY
Growing up playing hockey and eventually reaching his dream of playing in the NHL, the culture of the sport ingrained unhealthy habits and characteristics in Bob Wilkie. He experienced many unhealthy power differentials with coaches and bullying by his teammates. As a result, he began to shut down his emotions and became untrusting about his living environment.
In 1986 Bob Wilkie was projected to be drafted in the first round of the NHL amateur draft. Bob Wilkie was traded at the beginning of the season to the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. Later that year, the team suffered a tragic bus accident which claimed the lives of four of his teammates. Bob Wilkie watched one of his teammates take his last dying breath. All of this happened under the guidance of convicted child molester Graham James.
Bob Wilkie was drafted later that year, 41st overall, to the Detroit Red Wings. In 1989 while still a member of the Broncos, he was a part of the Memorial Cup Winning team closing a significant chapter in his life. Bob’s trauma led him through a complicated professional career. Bob Wilkie struggled with alcoholism, depression, anxiety attacks and suicidal tendencies. Nevertheless, Bob Wilkie played professionally for ten years and, was a part of two major championships, overcame two back surgeries, all while suffering in silence.
When Bob retired from the sport, he had to reinvent himself. Bob grew up in an entrepreneurial home and began his own business while living in Hershey, Pennsylvania. But unfortunately, he lost his first business to his inexperience and had to declare bankruptcy, he and his wife lost a son, and his battle with his mental health continued. As a young father, Bob Wilkie realized that he needed to find help and began his search to relieve the pain he was living in. His journey allowed him to work with some of the greatest minds in mental health and personal growth. Bob Wilkie began his journey of helping others when he started I Got Mind in 2008.
Since then, Bob Wilkie has shared his story with thousands of individuals around the World. Bob Wilkie’s keynotes are thought-provoking and emotional. Bob connects to his audience through his story. Bob has overcome many obstacles and continues to be a risk-taker. Everyone who attends one of Bob’s keynotes is touched emotionally by his ability to be vulnerable. The keynotes are motivational because of Bob’s message to keep moving forward regardless of the challenges that life may throw at you.

During the pandemic, many individuals have felt this. The presentation shares how we can become mentally wealthy and how important it is to have a plan and ask for help when we need it. It is not a bad thing to be challenged by life, it is necessary to live a life we are proud of. Being mentally wealthy takes a commitment to ourselves.
Drop Your Pack
- Virtual PresentationKeynote PresentationWorkshop SessionHalf Day TrainingFull Day Training
This presentation goes in-depth about the issues we have as human beings. We tend to carry our issues and each day we are putting our issues in our pack. This presentation was inspired by one of Bob’s students who returned from Afghanistan. The term drop your back is about being able to see the burdens we carry and the effect it has on us. Attendees will come to realize how many times they begin to carry the burdens of life and what they can begin to do, it all starts with the ability to drop their pack and stop carrying around the burdens of life to live a better way.
Fear and Motivation

Bob’s first time delivering this presentation was to a group of CEOs who had all lost their jobs during an economic downturn in the US in 2009. It is a very insightful presentation that takes the attendees on a journey of reflection and realization of how their attitude has affected them throughout their lives.A positive attitude is what allows us to achieve, a negative attitude is what causes us to live in deficit. It is one of the most powerful tools we possess, our ability o manage our attitude in all situations that we face in life.

- Virtual PresentationKeynote PresentationWorkshop SessionHalf Day TrainingFull Day Training
The workplace of today has become more challenging than ever. The pandemic has created a whole new to operate and any business that is not assessing its culture is going to find itself struggling with employee retention and team performance. The culture any business creates has a significant impact not only on its employees but their customers and the families of all of its employees. Wellness = Performance
- Virtual PresentationKeynote PresentationWorkshop SessionHalf Day TrainingFull Day Training
The presentation of wellness = performance is about the importance of taking care of ourselves. Bob has found through his work that many individuals struggle with their wellness because they have been conditioned to think that taking care of themselves is selfish. It is the most detrimental societal issues we face. In order to be our best, we have to do things to ensure we can be our best. Performance to support others, be a good teammate, and feel good is the most important task we have and only occurs when we have a good self-care routine.
Team Dynamics
- Virtual PresentationKeynote PresentationWorkshop SessionHalf Day TrainingFull Day Training

Bob walks the group through the 4 stages of team development and helps identify the issues the group may be facing and through his facilitation comes up with some ideas of what each member of the team can do so the team can achieve a higher level of performance.
