KRISTEN CUMMING BIOGRAPHY

Kristen Cumming possesses a great deal of energy, passion and humour, and it shows during her presentation. Kristen offers over 20 years of public speaking experience, spanning keynote addresses, breakout sessions and endnote presentations. Through this, Kristen Cumming can appreciate the complexity of a topic and the audience and communicates critical themes with clarity, relevance and humour. She uses the power of story, imagery and statistics to engage audiences and leave them with ideas that stick with them in their lives and work.

Work has always fascinated Kristen from an early age. Everything about it intrigues her: the nature of work, the occupations people choose, the role work plays in the contexts of individuals, families, communities and economies. It isn’t surprising that her first job was in career development. As a result, she learned everything she could about the complex decisions people make to create the life and work that they find meaningful and satisfying. She then transitioned into human resources, seeking to understand the organizational side of work. In both areas, she was honoured to connect people with meaningful work. Beyond filling vacancies, it became clear that ensuring retention within organizations was equally important. There seemed no point in filling a bucket that had holes in it. This led her to work in performance management, management and supervisory training, and leadership development.

Kristen Cumming has focused the past twenty years on improving the connection between people and their work. Cumming holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Master of Education degree in Workplace and Adult Learning. Kristen Cumming also instructed at the University of Alberta in the Bachelor of Management Business Economics Program for eight years. Over the past 20 years, she has operated a successful consulting practice. She has worked with tens of thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations across North America.

Kristen Cumming’s career is now focused on elevating people in the context of their work. In doing so, she is passionate about supporting the stability, resiliency and performance of individuals, organizations and communities. Kristen specializes in communication, staff retention, performance management, high-performance teams, and leadership. As a result, Kristen can incorporate practical and relative solutions for each industry and work relationship. She uses her experiences within her education and her consultation practice in the career development and human resources industry to customize each presentation for each audience. Above all, Kristen has a unique perspective on understanding complex decisions that are made to create the life of work that employees find meaningful and satisfying and delivers powerful presentations that change the way one thinks about careers, organizations and industries.

The presenter of the multigenerational workforce did a great job of showing us how the “why generation” thinks and does things. I was amazed.
