LIZ GLEADLE BIOGRAPHY
Liz Gleadle is a three-time Olympian, twelve-time Canadian Champion, and the national record holder in javelin. She represented Canada at the London, Rio, and Tokyo Olympic Games and made history as the first Canadian to reach the Olympic Finals in her event.
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Liz began her athletic journey at Kitsilano Secondary School, where she discovered her passion for javelin. By age sixteen, she had set a Canadian youth record and earned a place on the World Youth Team, signaling the start of a career that would span nearly two decades.
During her time at the University of British Columbia, Liz earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology while competing for the UBC Thunderbirds. She won the NAIA Championships four consecutive times, setting two new records and establishing herself as one of Canada’s top emerging athletes.
Liz’s pursuit of mastery took her to the National Training Centre for throws in Lethbridge, Alberta, where she trained under esteemed coaches and refined her technical, physical, and mental discipline. Her focus on data, biomechanics, and consistency led her to break the Canadian national record by more than three meters in 2011.
That same year, she qualified for her first Olympic Games and became the first Canadian to advance to the Olympic javelin finals, where she placed twelfth overall. Her performance marked a milestone for Canadian athletics and solidified her position among the world’s elite throwers.
Over the next decade, Liz competed in four World Championships, three Olympic Games, and two Pan American Games, earning medals and setting a standard of excellence defined by longevity and innovation. Her commitment to exploring all aspects of human potential made her one of the most forward-thinking athletes of her generation.
Beyond traditional training, Liz’s interest in physiology, psychology, and mindfulness inspired her to integrate unconventional practices into her regimen. She studied meditation, sleep science, yoga, dance, acrobatics, and movement exploration, creating a unique blend of scientific precision and creative expression.
Her willingness to experiment and adapt led to a deeper understanding of holistic performance—how emotional, mental, and social health directly influence physical outcomes. This integrative mindset became the foundation for her coaching and consulting work after retiring from competition in 2024.
Today, Liz Gleadle is a Holistic Movement and Performance Coach and Consultant who works with athletes, teams, and organizations to build sustainable systems for growth. Her programs combine kinesiology, behavioral science, and lived experience to teach effective strategies for training, recovery, and mental clarity.
Liz’s approach emphasizes quality over quantity, helping individuals recognize when “less” training produces more meaningful results. She focuses on developing awareness, adaptability, and connection between body and mind to achieve higher levels of performance without burnout.
As a speaker, Liz Gleadle delivers sessions that blend storytelling with scientific insight. She offers evidence-based “cheat sheets” and frameworks that help audiences translate complex performance principles into daily habits. Her sessions are sought after by both corporate and athletic audiences for their practical application and clarity.
Her online program, The Peak Performance Accelerator, extends her philosophy to a global audience. It provides the foundational skills for self-regulation, emotional awareness, and intentional practice that enable athletes to take ownership of their success in sport and beyond.
Liz continues to collaborate with performance scientists, wellness experts, and educators to advance conversations about resilience, mindset, and sustainable excellence. She remains committed to equipping others with the skills and systems that allow them to thrive in both competition and life.
Through her work, Liz Gleadle exemplifies a new model of performance—one defined by curiosity, balance, and the intelligent pursuit of personal mastery.
