FABIAN HENRY BIOGRAPHY

Fabian Henry is a Nova Scotia-born former Canadian Armed Forces soldier dedicated to veteran aftercare. Early in Fabian’s career, he specialized in combat engineering through the Canadian Armed forces deploying 6 times for Canada to places like Afghanistan, Haiti, Pakistan, and Eritrea. His experiences and work ethic lead him to the rank of Sergeant in under 10 years along with being a qualified combat diver and parachutist for his trade as speciality skills.

Fabian’s proven ability in his military career would serve well in the leadership style required to pioneer precision processes to treat PTSD symptoms and recover. Fabian Henry is an Award winning social entrepreneur and veteran advocate who founded multiple corporations and non-profits and then built off each one to blend them together for the purpose of serving veterans who suffer from PTSD and Trauma.

Fabian Henry passion stems from his personal experience. He suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), hearing loss, tinnitus, malaria and other illnesses from 12 years of service. Military doctors prescribed him painkillers, which he then got addicted to and was eventually taking 9 pills a day. In North America, it is estimated that between 10 and 20 per cent of veterans suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder in any given year, a mental health condition for which there are very few treatment options.

Through his own curiosity, emotional exhaustion and the ongoing pain and turmoil to make it through each day, Fabian Henry “snapped out of it” and started his journey of exploring alternative methods of treatment for himself. This journey ranged from finding new support systems, spiritual awakenings and deep learnings and understandings of himself to finding a new purpose.

In 2013, Fabian Henry started his first venture when he founded Marijuana For Trauma which is now known as Canada House. Canada House is a network of medical cannabis clinics in Canada founded by retired Sergeants Fabian Henry and Michael Southwell, staff are working to build a safe haven for veterans who are seeking support and solutions for their mental health.

Canada House was built to offer veterans not just a clinic, but a community where they can consult with other vets (and medical professionals) about cannabis. Canada House’s purpose is to create safe spaces for veterans with an inviting atmosphere, intentionally designed to make veteran-specific support more accessible. Specialized programs and personalized treatment plans “help veterans that have slipped through the cracks or have fallen on difficult times.”

In 2018, Fabian Henry invested as part owner with Near Threat Analytics, providing real-time information on the status of various types of threats around the globe using cutting-edge A.I. which was sold in March 2020 to Novus Health, a company offering services in the Health and Travel industry in North America and Europe. Fabian Henry then partnered with Jack Rennie, a Saskatchewan born advanced care paramedic and mental health advocate who is dedicated to helping first responders recover from operational injuries like post-traumatic-stress-disorder (PTSD).

Together, with an advisory board behind them (which includes former Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter and former leader of the provincial Conservative party Jamie Baillie), they hope to help people across the country with their journey of healing from trauma through GAFF. GAFF (Global Alliance Foundation Fund) is a non-profit founded by Henry, is a nonprofit veteran organization focused on assisting veterans who suffer from trauma in their healing journey through Fabian’s “4 Pillars of Healing”.

Dedicated to serving his comrades, Fabian Henry then created and serves as senior director of another non-profit – Veterans House. Veteran’s House’s purpose is to promote quality peer support for veterans by providing ongoing mentorship and support to veteran mental health non-profit organizations. Their purpose is to promote quality peer support for veterans through guidance, ongoing support, and mentorship to veterans’ mental health non-profit organizations, and through providing information and resources to Veterans and Health Care Providers.

Veterans House and its supported organizations interface with researchers and practitioners, such as The University of Regina and The Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR, Queen’s University) or with other researchers studying the effects of Trauma and PTSD.

Fabian Henry is currently working full-time on his new venture as the founder of “Veterans for Healing”. Veterans for Healing works collaboratively with many partners to do everything possible to help veterans and their families to receive the best medicine and aftercare they need and deserve. Through his veteran-focused line of products, on-line marketplace, and proprietary model of healing, Veterans for Healing is committed to supporting the treatment, recovery and health of veteran and first-responder patients and their families.

Veterans for Healing is founded on the basis of real-world experience in helping over 2000 of Canada’s veterans since 2013 with a variety of support programs and therapy. Veterans for Healing takes this work a step further by ensuring the right access, right medicine and right aftercare programs are in place for this important population.
