Macro vs Micro-Managing, Harvesting the Knowledge of the Combined Versus the Individual

  • Respect as a motivator in leadership – example – behind most deep business feelings, one can find either respect as a positive or negative driving influence – examples – how one feels treated by their company is directly related to how respected they feel, understanding the key role of leadership – helping people succeed…putting them in positions to succeed, ensuring they have the required tools to succeed. Humanisation of the organization as a key culture impactor – what this means is that in many companies, employees feel that they have to protect themselves in an image –

the truly successful culture is one that recognizes “people are people with all their inherent strengths and weaknesses and this is extremely important”, valuing people over numbers…..focus on the “how” as opposed to “how much”…recognizing that while organizations demand accountability for numbers, that sometimes numbers are out of their control because of outside influences.  Example – Walmart as a company’s largest customer decides to exit a category – this does not mean that Walmart’s account manager is doing a lousy job
