DR. LAURA HAMBLEY BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Laura Hambley Lovett is an organizational psychologist and thought leader on the evolution of work. She speaks to audiences globally on hybrid/remote leadership, mental health/burnout, creating cultures where people thrive, and preventing toxic leadership.
Dr. Laura Hambley has always been fascinated by how work intersects with life and loves to use her organizational psychology expertise to improve organizations and help people thrive in through practical tools and habits.
While completing her Doctorate in Organizational Psychology in 2002, Dr. Laura Hambley focused on remote leadership and predicted the world of work would change to become more flexible and mobile. She has continued to write and innovate on the topic as a Future of Work pioneer and trailblazer.
In her role as an Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Calgary, Dr. Laura Hambley loves collaborating with undergraduate and graduate students on research projects.
Dr. Laura Hambley launched her podcast in 2020, inspired by her long-held belief that successful workplaces require thriving humans. Along with her expert guests, she explores and shares insights on thriving workplaces, thriving organizations, career fulfillment, and advocating for a better world with listeners in the US, Canada and around the globe.
Dr. Laura Hambley has contributed to books and many articles in her field of organizational psychology such as Growing the Virtual Workplace as well as using another part of her brain to write psychological thrillers, Losing Cadence and Finding Sophie, which are being pitched for a TV series. Dr. Laura Hambley aims to both entertain and raise awareness on important topics around mental health and domestic violence. Through this focus, Dr. Laura Hambley has become an Advocate to end violence against girls and women, and regularly contributes to initiatives that educate, fundraise, and bring awareness to these horrific issues.
Dr. Laura Hambley is an entrepreneuer and business leader, having started several psychology practices, including Canada Career Counselling and Synthesis Psychology, as well as additional practices offering organizational assessment and consulting services.
Philanthropy and charitable work are very important to Dr. Laura, and so she serves on non-profit committees and boards focused on areas that she’s passionate about. Ending violence against girls and women, as well as growing confidence and leadership skills in children and youth in the performing arts are her top charity focuses.
Dr. Laura Hambley has a busy and fun household overlooking the Rocky Mountains in Calgary, which includes her life partner Scott, two sons (Nick & Matt), a daughter (Cadence), and a fluffy white dog (Ghost). Dr. Laura Hambley enjoys travel, competitive squash, hiking, yoga, and downhill skiing.
Dr. Laura Hambley was honoured to have been selected as a Woman of Distinction in Canada in 2014 and to receive a Canadian Woman of Inspiration Award as a Global Influencer in 2018.
