Holly Frances’ life changed forever when she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome in 2011, three weeks after giving birth to her daughter. She spent nearly three months paralyzed on life support in the ICU fighting for her life. Once the paralysis started to fade, she went through grueling physiotherapy to strengthen her body again. Holly is the author of Happily Ever After, her comeback story as the paralyzed new mom that overcame the impossible, learned to walk again, and is now in the best shape of her life.

Holly got involved with the GBS-CIDP Foundation shortly after her recovery to provide hope to newly diagnosed patients, and to help advocate for the rare condition that forever changed her life. Holly is also the face behind Holly After GBS, a social media platform she created where she connects with other survivors. Holly’s incredible recovery videos have inspired over 200 million people around the world. Holly and her daughter who is now 9 years old, share a life with her fiancé and his two children in Beaumont, Alberta. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and living life to the fullest.

After working in Human Resources for 12+ years, she left to pursue a career in health and fitness. She is now a certified Personal Trainer, inspiring others with her story to become the strongest version of themselves.

Marilyn Rose has always been passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others. After a short stint as a practical nurse, Marilyn decided on a career in Social Work which included Professional Speaking & Workshop delivery.  She combined her love of music with Speaking, by writing and performing theme songs for many of Conferences, workshop and seminars, adding a unique value to the events.

Her Nursing experience & Child Protection & Crisis Intervention Social Work prepared her in many ways for the medical crisis she faced when her daughter Holly was diagnosed with GBS.  She spent over 3 months in the hospital with Holly, staying by her side almost 24-7.

Marilyn & Holly became involved with GBS-CIDP foundation shortly after Holly’s recovery, providing support and information to other patients with GBS or CIDP. They soon discovered their life’s purpose included raising awareness of this rare and devastating condition and inspiring others to overcome any obstacle they may face in life.

As a Metis woman, Native Spiritually and Indigenous Spiritual practices have become an integral part of who she is and how she navigates her life.  Marilyn is committed to doing her part in being a voice for Creator to work through her and support forward movement and healing in Aboriginal communities.

Marilyn has 4 grown children, 7 grandchildren and 2 rescue dogs.  She volunteers with a Senior Animal Rescue, is a Certified Pet Therapist and accomplished Inspirational Singer/Songwriter.

Creator speaks to each us. But are we listening? Marilyn shares the wisdom she has received from the Creator by listening carefully to messages whispered to her through songs and stories. Holly shares how her connection with spirituality helped her in her journey with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. They believe the time has come to rise above the tragedies and atrocities Indigenous people have experienced for generations and become the Spiritual Leaders they were meant to be. Marilyn & Holly are experts at finding the gifts within every challenging experience and support others to find those gifts (as well as the gifts they have within themselves), so they can truly embark on a healing journey. “It’s within us all to rise above what we believe has “happened to us’ and discover what was done “for us” in our Spiritual evolution.

Happily Ever After: My Journey with Guillain-Barré Syndrome and How I Got My Life Back

Just weeks after giving birth, Holly's life came crashing down. What should have been an exciting time in this new mom's life quickly changed, when she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome - a rare autoimmune disorder. Within 72 hours, Holly was paralyzed in the ICU on life support, unable to move, speak or hold her newborn baby. As the days turned into weeks, and with no sign of improvement, she entered a severe state of despair and hopelessness. But she found her strength. In this inspiring true story, Holly shares her journey through intensive rehabilitation - where she learns how to do basic tasks like breathing, eating and walking again - and how she fought to regain her independence to get back to her daughter. With incredible perseverance, Holly overcame every obstacle she faced to be the mother she always dreamed of.
