Norman Leach is president of Norman Leach & Associates, Inc., which specializes in Integrated Business Knowledge: Marketing, Public, Government, Media Relations and Event Management) and International Trade Development and Management. Norman has satellite offices in Calgary, Alberta, Kansas City, USA, South Korea and Mexico City. Norman’s experience has taken him from North America to Europe to Asia to Latin America. Norman Leach teaches at Mount Royal University and SAIT on the topics of Entrepreneurship, Marketing and International Trade. He has also taught at the University of Lethbridge (where he won the Instructor of the Year Award), the University of Manitoba, the University of Alberta, Grant McEwan University and Red River Community College in Manitoba.
Norman Leach is an avid historian, award-winning writer, documentary producer, professional speaker and adventurer. He is the consummate storyteller combining history, multi-media and storytelling to “bring history to life”. Norman is the bestselling author of five books on military history. He is also a regular contributor to a number of other military and historical journals. Leach has been the historian on a number of movies and documentaries including “Passchendaele” – the WW1 Epic produced by Canadian Paul Gross and filmed in Calgary. Norman worked with all departments, was a special skill extra and was an active media spokesperson for the movie.
Norman’s documentary credits include “The Road to Passchendaele” which aired on Global, “The Mad Trapper of Rat River” on Discovery and “Hitler’s Stealth Fighter” – a National Geographic documentary. Norman recently received the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal for “telling the stories of Canada, her people and the military.” He is also an Honourary Life Member of the Canadian Association of Veterans in UN Peacekeeping. Norman Leach is a well-known security consultant focusing on the use of private security (para-policing and paramilitary) in domestic and international situations. He is a media commentator on the use of private security forces and the military in international peacekeeping, and counter-terrorism operations.
Norman graduated from the University of Manitoba with a major in Strategic Studies and a minor in Canadian history. He then earned his certification as an Executive Protection Specialist from Executive Security International in Aspen, Colorado. Furthermore, Norman is a Governor on the Board of Governors for the Corps of Commissionaires – Southern Alberta and is the former Managing Director of the Western Canadian Defence Industries Association.
Norman has over 20 years of security experience and strategic and tactical security services to a variety of clients. His company, SCL Security Services, provides electronic and physical security solutions, security consulting and analysis and threat assessment. Norman Leach is an Honourary Life Member of the Canadian Association of Veterans in UN Peacekeeping and the Secretary of the Overseas Security Advisory Council of Alberta. He was recently awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal. Because of his experience, Norman’s network includes many security and government representatives, that help Norman and his goal to improve public safety and public policy.
